How to Identify Fake Diamonds

Diamond is most popular as weeding or engagement ring or any other jewelry. Diamond jewelry is a girl’s best friend. But there are many fake diamonds circulating around the market. It is important to identify the fake diamond while buying the jewelry. You should buy original diamond jewelry for your dear ones. Here have some tips that could guide you to identify the diamond weather it is real or not.

1.       You can check your diamond by an electronic diamond tester if you have or you can go your jewelry store to check. Electronic diamond tester can easily test diamond within a minute. However, most standard electronic tester has a lack the ability to identify some fake diamond. So you should follow some other tests.

2.       You can check the weight of the diamond. The real diamond is lighter than other gemstone. Such as the real diamond has 50 percent less weight than Cubic zirconia. 

3.       You can test the diamond by checking its transparency. You can use newspaper to check the transparency. If you see the word of the newspaper is legible, it is most probably the real one. But there also have a problem; some other gemstone like Cubic zirconia in well shaped has the transparency like diamond.

4.       Another test is reflection test. You can test the reflection to check the fake diamond. The real diamond shows grayish shade of reflection. The other gemstone shows rainbow reflection.

5.       You can blow some air on the diamond surface through your mouth. If the fog is still appears on the diamond surface for a couple of second or more then probably the diamond is fake. The fogs on the original diamond surface disappear quickly.

6.       You can use UV ray to test the fake diamond. The original diamond turns blue in color in presence of UV ray.

7.       Drop the diamond in water. The real diamond will sink and the fake one will float in water.
